About the Authors
Dr. Ashley Hall
Dr. Ashley Hall is an experienced business educator with a passion for leadership development. She has taught a variety of business courses, including human resources, change management, business communication, organizational development, and business technology classes. Ashley has over a decade of higher education teaching experience, including both face-to-face and online courses, and regularly teaches and develops courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Through her teaching, training, research, and consulting, Ashley aims to help organizations effectively and efficiently solve the complex problems they are facing today. She has worked with organizations of varying sizes in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Ashley has published or presented over 70 articles and presentations on topics such as managerial competencies, human resources, managerial communication, and business pedagogy. In addition to giving presentations across the United States, she has also presented at academic conferences in South Africa and Italy.
Ashley has a BBA in general business with a concentration in corporate communication and a minor in international studies, and an MBA from Stephen F. Austin State University. In 2016, she earned her Ph.D. in human resource development with a focus on organization development and change from the Soules College of Business at The University of Texas at Tyler. Her dissertation investigated the relationship between managerial communication and employee job satisfaction during times of organizational change. Armed with three business degrees and nearly two decades of higher education work experience, Ashley is committed to preparing students for the realities of the current workplace and is skilled in tailoring educational opportunities for the needs of today’s students.
Dr. Kristen Waddell
Dr. Kristen Waddell is currently an assistant professor of human resource development at Stephen F. Austin State University. In her current role, she teaches a variety of courses focused on communication and business strategies, as well as foundational human resource development courses. Kristen’s goal as an educator is to help prepare students to enter the workforce by equipping them with both the technical and personal skills they need to succeed.
Before becoming an assistant professor, Kristen worked for almost 10 years as an HR professional in a variety of roles. Over half of her professional career was spent focusing on training and development, organization development, and change management. Her previous professional experience has helped her bridge the gap between industry and education in both her teaching and writing.
Kristen has a BBA in general business with a concentration in legal studies and an MBA from Stephen F. Austin State University. She also attended the Soules College of Business at The University of Texas at Tyler, where she earned her Ph.D. in human resource development.
