The Stukent Managerial Accounting Simternship
Build better business leaders through work-integrated learning
Help your students gain confidence with a practical, internship-style simulation built to reinforce core accounting skills. The Stukent Managerial Accounting Simternship® asks students to take on the role of an accounting intern at a small business. Across seven rounds, your students will perform cost-variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, make-or-buy decisions, and more, strengthening their accounting and strategic thinking skill sets.
When paired with the “Introduction to Managerial Accounting” courseware, the Simternship creates a seamless bridge from theory to practice.
Build your students’ skills with a Simternship
Each round mirrors professional practice, giving students the hands-on experience they need to thrive in today’s competitive job market.
Stukent’s accounting simulations have been a valuable addition to my courses at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I use the Accounting Cycle simulation in my Accounting Principles course for non-business majors and the new managerial accounting simulation in my Managerial Accounting course. Both simulations do an outstanding job of bringing the real world into the classroom, helping students make meaningful connections between textbook concepts and real-world business scenarios. Many of my students have shared that the simulations are not only engaging and educational, but also genuinely fun — something that’s not always easy to accomplish in accounting!

What’s in a Simternship round?
Each round asks students to apply what they’ve learned to real-world accounting scenarios. Curious to see how the Simternship works? Take a guided tour of a round!
Teach managerial accounting through real-world contexts and practical tools
The “Introduction to Managerial Accounting” courseware helps you teach foundational communication concepts with clarity, structure, and career-relevant contexts. Your students will explore how financial data drives everyday business decisions.
With turnkey activities, real-world examples, and annual updates, your course stays current while your students stay engaged.
We always write with the student in mind, knowing that it’s going to be easier for them because of how we’ve explained the topic. Accounting done poorly is miserable; accounting done well is still hard, but at least it makes it a pleasant experience.
